Summer Summer Summer Time

Does anyone else feel like this summer is FLYING by?  I feel like it was snowing and the next day it's 100 degrees and weekend trips everywhere.  I'm not complaining but damn, life moves fast!

A couple of weeks ago I went on our semi-annual girls weekend trip.  It's typically a group of 10 women from high school/college and if there's a year of no weddings/baby showers/etc, we make it a point to take a long weekend to somewhere some of us have never been.  This year we picked Asheville, NC and our huge group of girls came from all over to get together.

Thanks to Kelly we had an action packed weekend.  The best thing about the weekend is that some of us don't talk for a year, get together for the girls weekend and pick right back up on where we left off.

I didn't bring my nice camera and my cell phone camera is crap, so this is about all I've got for ya:

My favorite part of the trip was Whitewater Rafting...I had never been before and we all left wanting to do more!  Our tour guides were AWESOME and they even let us pull over at one part to jump off of a big cliff.

I'm so glad I have such smart, hard working, and beautiful girlfriends in my life! Everyone brings such a mix to the group and I wouldn't have it any other way. <3 p="">

The following weekend Ryan and I went to Portsmouth to help Paige celebrate her 29th!  We stayed at Ashley and Robbie's house and had so much fun!  I can't believe we didn't really take any pictures, but believe me when I say I'm so glad we've stayed so close.

We have a mini Dalton family reunion this week, so I'm off to prepare for that!  I'll post again soon!

Does this dirt make my yard look bald?

Our backyard isn't in terrible shape, but there's only parts that have grass.  We still have a humongous spot full of rubber mulch and weird rubber curb thingies from where the previous owners had a play yard.  We can't get rid of it until fall since pretty much everyone we talk to tells us it will just be consumed with weeds if we take it out now.

We've debated what to do with the other side of the yard where it's just a big ole bald spot full of clay, weeks, and little oak trees attempting to bust out.  Something like this:

Bleh.

We still have a lot to do, but here's what Ryan's done so far (and a little help by me carrying those heavy stones 4 at a time from the driveway to the backyard not so productively):

I think Ryan did a good job!  I think eventually we'll try to cover the rest with some decorative stone or  some wood planks or something to make it even better.  I think a fire pit would a nice little addition.  

By the way, I haven't noticed one bird using our bird bath.  Guess they're too good for it.  Hmph.
